WHAT IS CHLOROPHYLL?

If we look at nature, all that is green is Chlorophyll.  Chlorophyll is a molecule that actually makes the leaves green. This green pigment in plants becomes possible through a process called photosynthesis.  Chlorophyll harnesses the sun’s energy in order to perform many functions in the plant. 

It is an essential, life-sustaining process throughout the green plant kingdom. So, when we drink Chlorophyll, we are also benefiting from this energy.

Science has discovered that the Chlorophyll molecule has a very similar composition to our red pigment molecule called Hemoglobin. The only one exception is that the central atom of the Chlorophyll is Magnesium where in Hemoglobin it is Iron.


WHERE CAN WE GET CHLOROPHYLL?

We can obtain our source of Chlorophyll from Leafy Greens such as Kale, Spinach, Lettuce, Broccoli & Chard, Sea Vegetables like spirulina, chlorella.  You can get them from herbs like Alfalfa & Mulberry.  The challenge is in North America our society does not consume enough greens so liquid chlorophyll would be essential for one life. Science has made Chlorophyll to be more bioavailable, more absorbable by the body by exchanging the centre atom, Magnesium with Copper and Sodium and this makes Chlorophyllin.  Chlorophyllin is a water-soluble derivative and with that we get the nutrient raw Chlorophyll in a more absorbable way for the body.

WHAT DOES CHLOROPHYLL DO FOR THE BODY ?

BUILDS BLOOD & HIGH OXYGEN - Nutritionally, it builds the blood and increases the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood and transports oxygen into the body to tissues.

DETOXIFICATION - Chlorophyll not only helps the liver by taking on some of last night’s toxin removal, it also nourishes your liver with oxygen and magnesium. 

Chlorophyll gives our cells extra love and protection from heavy metal toxicity.  Chlorophyll binds up toxic pesticide residue and excretes it from the body (think, non-organic fruits, veggies, green juices, smoothies).

Chlorophyll binds to toxic junk to block it from reaching us. It creates what we could call a “protective shield” inside our bodies so that we have a barrier between toxicity and our cells. There’s a study from Oregon State University which explains that this “shield” sticks to carcinogens in our system so that they don’t get into our GI tract, making us sick later. Think – alcohol, fried oily food, pollution, judgmental self-talk – all toxic!

Chlorophyll can have a not so pleasant taste however, my absolute favourite Chlorophyll is hands down, from Nature Sunshine.  Nature's Sunshine’s Chlorophyll is one of the tastiest ones I've tried. It is flavoured with a hint of Spearmint and because it's so tasty, you end up drinking more water which most of us are depleted in. It's easy to use and it has many super duper health benefits!

CHLOROPHYLL DIRECTIONS:

To start, I would suggest 2 tsp of  Nature's Sunshine Chlorophyll into 1 cup water. 

Because Nature’s Sunshine Chlorophyll has the Spearmint in it, not only is it tasty but it makes a great Spearmint Tea!
